ArtEAST certainly shares the concerns which have a larger implication in the wake of contemporary visual arts. Besides, it also intends to bring Bengal into focus keeping in mind that there is hardly any art magazine with a categorical emphasis on the art of Bengal – old or new, traditional or contemporary. Thus, ArtEAST is here to fulfill that gap. From the moment we initiated this venture we made it quite clear that our magazine content would not remain confined merely to reporting on artists and their activities but to look at the entire gamut of socio-cultural spaces and avenues related to visual arts. Hence, we decided to pay attention to such specific areas and institutional spaces like art-education, architecture, philosophies of art, design, gallery spaces and museums that shape the art sensibilities of a society.
